Suggestions based on migration from SB to sonarr.

Suggestions:

  • import settings from SickBeard
  • something like SBs green line in sabnzbd for identification of sonarr downloads
  • button for import all of serials…when migrating from SB or others…adding 200+ serials…you wanna kill your self.
  • why cover pictures are not downloaded into series folders? Why to nzbdrone home folder?
  • sonarr guest-host account(read only for serials,calendar) for family members would be nice
  • little rating number between series path and amount of disk space occupied is confusing, maybe add little star icon to it?
  • showing ratings and series disk size on index of serials page
  • having alphabet A-Z row in Series section to simply list all serials begin with letter N for example
  • having +100 series can slowdown browser, so little applet “show 10-15-50 items or everything” on page could help
  • recommendation for new serials base on current DB in form of another icon in series panel
    (scenario…you got all three stargate series, sou you could like startrek or starwars(base on trakt.tv or similar services), click here to import it and start download)

- LOVE! the abilities for working with imported serials…compare to sickbeard, its like to move from old ford car to new BMW.
- nice calendar feature…again light years ahead from SB
- liked the feature showing disk space occupied by specific seriesstrong text

Now, after several hours spend with migration from good old SB to sonarr, I can say that its definitely worth all of the trouble and work around it.
Capability to monitor download process inside sabnzbd and instantly react on false or wrong downloads its a killer feature. Likewise applet for manual search on specific episode and possibility to pickup concrete release…very nice indeed.

One can see that team behind sonarr did really amazing job and created something new and fresh in stagnant waters of newsbin automatic tools.

And there is even much bigger oportunity for this entire project and community behind it…. I can definitely imagine(and not only me, thats for sure) sonarr-TV, sonarr-Movie, sonarr-Music.
Youve got already 90 percent of code finished. Infrastructure is ready and running…imdb, bluray.com, last.fm, musicbrains etc.
I thing that people and fans from newsbin world would definitely like project which would give them tv, movies and music in one nice, unified interface and in quality of sonarr project. Instead of running X instances of very different software in terms of look, settings and usage, they would have sw with all three major categories.
This can bring you definitely much more bigger user base and also donation base…well just thought or wet dream? :slight_smile:

A lot of these are already on Github, but there are a few I’ll address here. We appreciate the feedback, the migration process is one thing we want to improve but its good to get ideas on other things that we could also improve on.

I don’t see our settings are being compatible and we definitely wouldn’t want to rely on reading a config file to do it, so I can’t see this being done.

I don’t know what you mean by this, but wouldn’t that be the category? Sonarr internally tracks things it sends to SAB (or any other download client) though.

This will definitely be there in v3.

Because not everyone wants them (I know I don’t) or they’re wanted in many different formats, you can opt into creating metadata files if you want them there.

Movies is a highly requested feature, but its not something we have immediate plans to implement and to do so we’d need more developers on the team to manage it effectively. Music isn’t something we’re considering at this time.
