Suggested Setup with Android TV Box and Low Powered PC for Sonarr!

Hi
I had Sonarr (and SABNZB, Deluge etc) setup great but have changed to a cheapish Android TV Box - NEXBOX A95X (S905X CPU, 2+16G, Android 6.0, 2.4G+5G Dual WiFi, Bluetooth).

It has 2 USB Portable HDD attached for storage of TV, Movies, Music etc.

I have Sonarr set up on a WIN10 Nettop PC (Acer Revo from 2010).

My query is what is the best way for these 2 to work together:

  • 2 USB drives attached to the low powered Android Box and have the content stream from there.
  • 2 USB drives attached to the Nettop Revo and have the content stream to the Android Box from there.

I have tried the first one and the media plays fine but I cannot see' the drives attached to the Android box on the Win10 machine (which makes Sonarr useless as it can'tsee’ the drives it is to be monitoring.)

Is there a way to make the attached USB drives on the Android box visible to the RevoPC or (as someone else suggested), have the 2 USB drives attached to the Revo Nettop and stream from the Revo to the Android box.

If so, what is the best way to allow the Android box to `see’ and stream from the drives attached to the Revo Nettop!

They would need to be accessible via a network share (SMB (CIFS) or NFS), which seems unlikely.

Having the Android box access the drives attached to the Revo would require a network share as well, but the Android box is more likely to support accessing a network share than hosting one.

Hi

I have reorganised the setup and the 2 USB drives (content) are now attached to the Revo `server’ box running Sonarr etc.

I have also downloaded ES File Explorer to the Android Box and am looking at using SMB shares - is this the easiest way?

If so, when I try to add the server via ES Filer Explorer it says I am adding: smb://10.0.0.8 (I think) but asks for a username and password.

I have tried all combos but nothing works.

The account attached to the Revo Win10 is my outlook.com account and its password.

Is this what is wants or does it want what the Win10 machine is named (MEDIASERVER) or does it want the name it has given it eg: (DESKTOP-DFC12456) as the username.
