Star Wars Rebels Season 2 just started and the first episode was tagged REAL for episode 1. I already had an episode 1 in my folder from over the summer. Here’s what happened next:
Sonarr would not grab the file from RSS feed. Had to grab it manually.
Sonarr did import the file though, and the activity log says the original episode 1 was deleted to import an upgrade.
Deleted file DID NOT GO to my designated folder, apparently it was deleted from my hard disk.
On a side note, I grabbed the deleted file again. If I have to do that again, Sonarr will be uninstalled from all my PCs, as I cannot risk Sonarr deleting stuff I need.
Sonarr doesn’t currently upgrade to REAL files automatically.
Which designated folder? Sonarr will delete existing files when its importing a new file and only move them them to Sonarr’s recycling bin if it has been setup.
Sonarr uses TheTVDB for episode information, they have rules in place in which guides they follow, which is usually the broadcasters, not another TV listing site.
Did you rescan the series folder after moving the file manually?
The issue seems to be with The TVDB. They are listing the TV movie that came out in June as episode 1. This is incorrect. There is some debate as to how to proceed with naming.
I called it “My Designated Folder” as I didn’t have the app open at the time of this forum post. You call it the “Recycling Bin”. I have had an existing and assigned folder in that slot since day one, and it has worked fine, until now.
The TVDB is notoriously inaccurate IMHO, Zap2it is incredibly more accurate, and TVRAGE has always been better. Too bad TVRAGE is offline.
Of course. I’ve been using the software for over 2 years.
Also, this forum software is really crappy, I had to re type most of this response, after I somehow deleted all of the original draft… Not happy about that at all.
Update and I apologize: I found the original “special” that aired over the summer on another PC. The statement from the activity log saying that the file was deleted to imported an upgrade on the day I grabbed the REAL episode is probably what through me off.
So Sonarr DID NOT delete the file, I did by moving it.
Seems like every year I see this happen with some show and the bickering only seems to frustrate every automation user out there. I really wish you could fork sites like these.
Yes, and that implies changing TheXEM to allow mapping differently based on other criteria. which is what we talked about when considering requirements for TheXEM v2, but we aren’t there yet. And we’re not going to hack in some behaviour specific to one series in the interim.
I’m sorry about sounding frustrated, but these matters have been discussed frequently, both on the forums and the #xem IRC channel. The bottomline is simple: At this time we can’t handle SW:R properly, just like a dozen other shows with special needs. And that isn’t going to change magically overnight.
Yeah, I see trying to find a solution that would work for everything, but a switch to ignore xem would let people get it working in the meantime for those of us that only use web-dl. Probably too much work for one or two shows.
Oh, what might be neat is if we could have some kind of “xem override” xml file in the config dir that we could create our own custom mappings.
Thanks, guess I’ll just stick to downloading this one manually for now.
Try actually having to shoot down every draft people submit to XEM because they don’t understand what’s going on.
If you want SW:R to be downloaded automatically by Sonarr, you’ll have to set it up to only grab HDTV. As long as you have that set up, you shouldn’t be getting wrong episodes anymore. Other than that, this show will keep requiring manual effort either way. As said before: XEM only caters to scene releases right now, so you’ll be screwed either way with shows like these.
