Sonarr won't start after homebrew update on Mac

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.5301
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows): 5.16.0.179
OS: MacOS 10.14.3
Debug logs:
Description of issue: Sonarr.app won’t start/open after homebrew update on Mac

I’ve seen these issues discussed on and off here, such as 4 years ago!

Sonarr won’t run after each upgrade (master build) - OSX

I bring this back as it continues to happen to me every time I get around to updating and I have to scratch my head before I remember what I had to do last time, it’s always adding the execute bit to the Sonarr binary itself. So in terminal you can just enter:

chmod +x /Applications/Sonarr.app/Contents/MacOS/Sonarr

The app should open normally after that.

My question is, why is this still a problem and where does the fault lie?

Is it not possible for the package installer that homebrew uses to add this executable bit to the binary?

And yes, update from within the app still doesn’t work.

Sonarr totally rocks though and is such a refined experience. I wish there was a Drobo app.

Possibly, but we don’t maintain such a package. I know user’s have had issues with this when extracting using a 3rd party zip utility that doesn’t maintain the execute bit, possibly that’s the issue here.

Doesn’t work in what way?
