I am looking at installing Sonarr on mac. Most of the guides I have come across talk about linking it with NZBGet or Sab. I am interesting on installing Sonarr really for searching my indexers and renaming files.
If I do install Sonarr is it possible for it to download NZB’s and put them in a particular folder. The reason I am asking is that NZBVortex watches my download folder and then if an nzb appears in it it automatically downloads the related file.
Does Sonarr scan multiple indexers for a show and can it be configured to download a file of a particular quality i.e. tv show 720p? NZBVortex can scan indexers but only one assigned to the particular show. The only issue with this is that the show may not be available on that index but may be available on another.
Once NZBVortex has downloaded the complete file can and how would Sonarr scan a folder that Vortex has put the finished file in and rename it etc as a lot of the files on usenet are obfuscated?
If anyone has NZBVortex setup on their mac and can show me a better way of doing the above I would also appreciate the help. Otherwise pointers at all would be appreciated.
1 & 2 yes.
3 Depends, you’ll want NZBVortex to put single files in folders still (its an option in NZBVortex’s settings), otherwise Sonarr won’t be able to use the folder name to get more information about the file.
We’re working on a proper integration with NZBVortex for a future release.
Point 3 might not be an issue for long as I spoke to the developer of vortex and he is working on a fix for obfuscated file downloads. When I get a chance I think I’ll give sonarr a go for the ability to monitor multiple feeds.
I am going to take the plunge and give Sonarr and NZBGet a go. I’ll still have NZBVortex on my machine as a backup incase things don’t work out. All I am looking to do is get Sonarr to download my nzb’s from my indexers and transfer them over to NZBGet to download the files. Then once NZBGet is finished for either software to transfer the file with it’s proper name to iTunes.
NZBVortex is great but it doesn’t deal with obfuscated file names well or can scan multiple indexers for a file.
To that end with all the guides on the internet can someone point me to a guide for the above that has worked well for them.
