Sonarr sending to seedbox but staying marked as missing

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.4146
Description of issue:

Hello, I have setup using Sonarr (torrents) then sending it to the Seedbox using ruTorrent. The RSS search, transfer of the torrent, labeling & download work great.

The only problem is, once the torrent is sent through to the ruTorrent client, the episode is still being listed as missing/wanted (red).

How can I set Sonarr to set it as downloaded (green) as soon as the torrent file goes through to ruTorrent?

You can’t, Sonarr will only consider it as downloaded once it has been downloaded and imported into the series folder.

That is a shame. Anyway it can be marked as snatched or similar so the system doesn’t keep looking for it?

Anyone else with a Seedbox have a similar issue?

They are, then Sonarr talks to the download client to see it if is still downloading. If Sonarr can’t get the status from the download client it assumes its not downloading anymore and the UI represents that, but it will wait 12 hours before grabbing another release if it hasn’t been imported yet. You can turn Completed Download Handling off to disable the 12 hour retry and it won’t grab the same quality release again.

Hi Markus. Thanks for the reply.

Alright, well that is actually pretty good behaviour. I have turned off completed download handling and so far it hasn’t downloaded the same release again  perfect!

I am not sure why it isn’t communicating with the status of the download, however, it is sending them through fine.

So basically it is doing exactly what I am after, just not changing the colour of the release and is leaving them in the wanted section.

Are they getting labeled correctly?
Which download client?

Yes, they sure are. Labelled perfectly as per the setting.

ruTorrent

Do they show up in Sonarr’s queue?
With Completed Download Handling off they should show up until the download hits 100%.

It is difficult to monitor because they download so fast and the torrent provider doesn’t do search so they just go through when I am not watching. They are going into the history section fine…

Do you think another download via the SB is better? I have deluge or transmission as my options

The SB?

If you leave Completed Download Handling enabled they will also show up after the download completes (or should if everything is working properly).

I prefer Transmission over Deluge personally, but it has some quirks.

Hi markus, thanks for the reply. Sorry , I should have been clearer. I am running ruTorrent and was wondering if Transmission or Deluge would work better than ruTorrent on the Seedbox (SB).

They are showing up in the history section, so maybe it is working good enough and I just have to live with them being listed as wanted after downloaded if they don’t attempt to get them again…

What do you think?

Totally up to you, if Sonarr isn’t able to import from the seedbox anyways then leaving CDH off is your best option.

Yeah, I guess I was wondering if you thought that Transmission or Deluge may communicate better than ruTorrent?

You’d have to test them out for your scenario, my preference of those 3 is transmission, but it may not work any better for your setup.

Interesting. Do you think that any of the programs will be able to notify Sonarr that the episode has been downloaded? Obviously the file will never be there, but, it would be good if it wasn’t still listed as wanted…

At times I am getting “Unable to communicate with ruTorrent. Error getting response stream (ReadDone2): ReceiveFailure”

However, it comes & goes with ruTorrent

Its not done by notifications, its done by Sonarr watching the queue in the client, if it can’t import it it should say that its still downloading, but at 100%. It will still be considered missing until its imported though.

Too generic to think about what it could be, could be failing to get a response.
