Sonarr search terms could use tweaking sometimes

Description of issue:
Add The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to your Sonarr shows. You will realize that Sonarr cannot find a single episode. I strongly suspect Sonarr is searching for the whole show title. If it would only search for Stephen Colbert it would find everything. It seems for this show no episode ever gets published under the full name.

This is not the first time I had this problem, and to be honest I don’t have enough insight in Sonarr to suggest a fix for this. Maybe some kind of dictionary mapping shows to sensible search terms could solve this issue.

Sonarr will search for it with Stephen Colbert as it is an alias for the show:

Full series or season searches won’t work at the moment because of how Sonarr handles them (something we need to resolve).

If you have a specific case where it failed, we’ll need to see debug logs to troubleshoot further.

Gotcha. You were completely right. From the debug logs:

The problem here is not the name of the show but the S02E107 part of the search term. This term should be replaced with 2017.03.03 as this show does not really have seasons but each episode is published with the air date.

Set the series type to Daily and it’ll search by date instead of season + episode number.

Maybe Series type Standard is not the best choice. How about Seasonal?
