Sonarr on more than 1 computer?

I currently have Sonarr and my indexer set up on my main desktop to do the downloading, but my HTPC is connected to my TV and across the house. When a download is done, I manually move it to the appropriate place on the HTPC via Windows Homegroups.

My question: is it possible to have Sonarr and my indexer on my HTPC so the downloads are auto-organized and renamed like they are now, but for me to be able to access it remotely from my main desktop on the same network? I know I can make any changes on my HTPC manually, but I try not to touch it with a mouse/keyboard and only use a remote.

you should just setup your htpc so it can simply reads/plays the files stored on your main desktop, you dont need to be manually copying files around your network…

or if you keep all your storage on the htpc not the main desktop, then you would add the series using the UNC path on your main desktop, so sonarr would download on your main desktop but save the files to the htpc.

I prefer to have the media on the HTPC so there’s no streaming lag or buffering over the network. I tried to have the files download to the htpc from the main desktop but it won’t allow connection through the homegroup.

Definitely no lag on Gigabit LAN, even 100 Mbit is virtually no lag unless you’re streaming really high bitrate content.

Have you tried setting up a proper share within Windows? Homegroups are pretty proprietary.

you would only have lag or buffering playing a downloaded file accross the network, if something is wrong in your setup or crap wireless speed etc

Dont use Homegroup, use UNC paths
