Sonarr Is Queueing Episodes for DL That I Already Have

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.5228

I just switched from Sickbeard to Sonarr yesterday. I was able to set everything up and it is running great except for one small issue.

I have about 4TB of existing TV shows that are part of my active downloads. I loaded those into Sonarr and it picked up everything on the hard drive and lists them all as part of that TV show. The issue is that in the activity area it keeps queuing up episodes of these shows that I already have and that Sonarr knows I have. I have to keep manually deleting these items.

Any suggestions on how to stop this from happening?

Regular tracking and downloading is working as all TV shows from yesterday we downloaded and filed properly.

Do the episodes you have on disk match the cutoff quality you defined for those shows?

Yes they do. All I ever download is 720/1080p episodes. All the ones in the queue show being either 720 or 1080.

so in the season/episode list the quality values/icons of the existing episodes have a solid dark grey background, not a hollow white one?

are the files its trying to download tagged as PROPER, or just normal filenames?

Yes. In the one series they are grey with white lettering and say HDTV-720. The episodes for that series in the queue are grey with white lettering and say HDTV-720.

On the far left to the left of the episode name is a orange box like icon. When I hover over it this is what it says.

Survivor.AU.S05E01.720p.HDTV.x264-ORENJI * No files found are eligible for import in H:\Downloads\Completed\Survivor.AU.S05E01.720p.HDTV.x264-ORENJI

This is the same thing that every episode in the queue says.

not sure why its doing it but i do know how you can stop it

in the season/episode list, over on the left for each ep is a flag icon, theres also a larger version next to each season label. this shows the monitored status of the eps (and the season)

when an ep is set to unmonitored (hollow icon) and sonarr sees what it thinks would be an upgrade to what you already have it wont do anything about it, if its monitored (solid icon) then sonarr will try to download it.

as you’ve started with a whole bunch of existing eps you might want to go through an unmonitor the previous seasons for those shows where you have all the eps, along with the current seasons eps that you already have

i think theres a way to configure sonarr so it automatically unmonitors eps once the cutoff quality is reached but i dont know where it lives, and it seems to only work for some of my shows, or at least used to, so every now and then i go through the shows and unmonitor the last season manually to stop it from touching them

if its still downloading it after that then its downloading a different show/ep that has the wrong file in it - aka spam/virus infected, for that in the activity queue you can click on the red X next to the orange icon (manual import needed i think) for that download and there should be a blacklist option in there that you can enable before clicking on ok, at least that way it should never download that particular file again (hopefully)
