Sonarr is not deleting lower quality

Sonarr version: 2.0.0.5287
Mono version: 5.2.0
OS: FreeNAS-11.1-U5
Debug logs:
Description of issue: SD was on disk, 720p was downloaded and SD is still there

Hi
shouldn’t sonarr delete the lower quality file once a higher one is downloaded?

I’ve imported an existing series in SD quality from my local disk
sonarr found a 720p version and started downloading
but when it was finished the SD version still remained on disk

how can I tell sonarr to delete it?
I failed to find a solution in the existing posts :frowning:

the SD folder was like this:
/path/series/old season folder/episodename.ext
sonarr created a new folder for the HD files
/path/series/new season folder/episodename.ext

to clearify:
old folder was german “Staffel XX”
new folder is english “Season XX”

appreciate any help

thanks
regards

Did Sonarr know about the existing episode?

If Sonarr is aware of the file at import time it deletes the file before importing and if the delete fails the import fails. The only way I can see this happening is if Sonarr wasn’t aware of the existing file (named in a way Sonarr can’t properly link the file to the episode).

What is the filename of the SD file?

At this point you’ll need to remove it manually.

Hi markus thanks for your answer

yes sonarr showed the episodes in the GUI and listed them as SDTV quality

what do you mean it deletes the files on import?
sonarr did not touch the folder structure after I’ve added the series
the sd filename is series.name.S05E14.title.mkv

maybe there went something wrong after the import?
cause, when sonarr imported the finished torrent, it moved the HD file insted of hardlinking
this happend with 5 episodes so far and I can’t figure out why
I’ve played around with the settings but it always removes the finished downloads from the transmission folder and I cannot seed them

thanks

I mean any lower quality episode is deleted before importing an upgraded file.

Any deletions would be before import.
Was the torrent still seeding in transmission?
Are you using Drone Factory?

You’re going to need to gather debug logs for this or better yet, enable trace logging as that will also add the information transmission returns)) for an import that fails to delete a file and/or moves instead of hardlinking.

At this point I can only speculate what the issue could have been.

ok, I’ve enabled trace logging

do you need the logs I have now or when the import fails again?

I don’t use Drone Factory

When there is an issue with the import.

Upload them somewhere and link them here (template when you opened this thread has some suggestions as to where) and we can take a look.
