[Solved/Closed] 2 machine setup possible? (independent Sonarr + Storage that can be powered down)

I would like to see a possibility for a 2 machine setup.

I have a storage server that is not running 24/7, and I have a low power build that I run sonarr on with just a single disk.
I would like to see an option in sonarr that pulls some kind of “metadata” for the shows that are existing on the storage platform, so I can switch the storage server off and sonarr would still know what shows are stored there.

Because when I last checked: Whenever the storage platform went offline: Sonarr thought all the episodes were deleted.

I hope I could describe my request in a understandable way.
Thank you utmost for your great work.

Not a real solution, but maybe an acceptable workaround…

Do you still want the episodes to be upgraded once they are on your storage platform?
Otherwise you can set Sonarr to automatically unmonitor deleted episodes. That will prevent it from trying to redownload it.

When did you last check this? If Sonarr sees the root folder or series folder missing for a series it no longer tries to scan the folder for changes and leaves the status of the episode files as-is, it has been this way for several months now.

sorry 4 the late reply

Good idea, but not an option, because I would like the files to be upgraded on the storage platform,

@markus101
I checked this last time in march or april I guess.
So if I understood you correctly:
If I have a low power machine running 24/7 and a storage machine that I have all my media on:
For series A an update from 720p to lets say blueray becomes available: sonarr would download that file and after storage comes online again copy the file to the correct directory?

Yeah, it should do exactly that, though its likely to fill up logs trying to copy while its offline, its aware the storage is missing, but doesn’t know when it comes back unless it keeps trying.
