Self-transcoded HEVC files identified as "SD"

Sonarr version (2.0.0.4374)
Mono version (4.2.2)
Synology
Description of issue: Episodes re-identified as “SD” after being re-encoded.

I’m trying out Sonarr this week after having used Sickbeard for several years. I typically download 1080p HDTVs when able and then use Handbrake to transcode them to HEVC to save space. Sickbeard never changed the “quality” after I transcoded…but Sonarr seems to identify my new HEVC files as “SD”…which I assume would then trigger it to re-download the original 1080p HDTV file and overwrite my HEVC file.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening without having to go in and unfollow each episode that I transcode with Handbrake?

Thanks in advance.

Make sure the actual quality is in the file name as that is what Sonarr uses to determine the quality, if it’s missing it falls back to the extension and makes a best guess based on how that extension was used (mp4 = SDTV, mkv .= HDTV-720p, etc).

Ah, makes sense. Thanks!
