I have recently added a show back into nzbdrone i had it on there previous but when reinstalling nzbdrone i forgot to add it the episodes were originally downloaded as SDTV but now i have changed any new episodes to download as HDTV 720p but i would also like it to go back and find the older episodes and download them in higher quality

If i select the all option on the season pass page it says it will mark all but specials as monitored does this mean on the next scan (mine is set to every 40 mins) will it detect those episodes and notice they are a lower quality and grab the higher quality ones or will i have to manually force this using the Search for all episodes in this series button on the shows page?

Monitored means drone will download them if they don’t meet or exceed the quality profile cutoff if they appear of the recent RSS feed from the indexers (the last 100 releases), if they’re reposted eventually they would be downloaded, otherwise you will need to search for them (auto or manual search).

okay so only if in the last 100 releases meaning really from the last 24-48 hours based on how much stuff is released each day
