With Sonarr is there an option to choose the required TV Naming Source? i.e on a season there are various sources like trakt, thetvdb, imdb, tv rage, tv maze. can you select just one of them for the “correct” naming of the series.
While this is great in having so many options, this seems to have cause some issues with some series like Gold Rush. In the latest season, Season 7 Episode 13 is actually a special episode in some sources like thetvdb while others do not list the episode as a special like imdb and tv maze.
No, Sonarr uses TheTVDB and uses thexem.de to translate from the scene release numbering to TVDB numbering when required, I believe God Rush is a show that is typically dealt with using thexem.de, so contacting them is probably your best bet.
Is there ever going to be an option. TVDB knows several shows have massively different release numbering, yet refuses to correct them to actual season numbering. Shows like Tanked have a known season release just by looking at the DVD season disk numbering but when you address these issues on their forum they ignore at best, and worst berate you. Currently Fast N Loud is on season 7 yet TVDB shows 10 (to be fair discovery channel has monkeyed with the season numbering this year) but refuse to allow the revision to the new system. Numerous shows are incorrect this way and it causes issues with both Sonarr and collecting actually correct shows. Then some shows use a season folder with a year instead of Season 1 it is 2002 NAME EP naming and it really buggers the system.
If we have to use the TVDB group and they refuse to correct season numbering then we will need a way to let Sonarr know that the information that it is looking for is not correct so it CAN search for the corrected numbering. So in this case we could insert a ignore season and episode numbering command with a check box and read episode name as actual file searched? Even if we have to manually insert the correct season numbering manually to have Sonarr search for it that way would still be an improvement. Sonarr itself works flawlessly - it is the database that is at fault.
How do I get thexem.de to work for me then? I have had several seasons never download content automatically - I have had to either find it myself or use a manual search. My question is that going to be an option was for the OP’s “With Sonarr is there an option to choose the required TV Naming Source?” Question.
I would second this need. I don’t understand the undying loyalty to TVDB. They are constantly being complained against and are completely unwilling to work with the community. thexem.de doesn’t always work (Gold Rush is a good example).
I also echo Justin’s frustration.
Simple solve by allowing us to choose a different source, or even a local override option.
