Renaming shows orphans the metadata

I had just noticed that one of my series that doesn’t normally get updated on TheTVDB very fast was full of episode names like ‘TBA’, ’ ’ and ‘n/a’ in their naming on my hard drives. As such, I used the built in rename facility across the series, which resulted in the video files being updated with correct names.

However, I run XBMC/Kodi and it’s metadata system. NONE of these files were renamed, and were left orphaned in the season folders. I manually removed all the nfo/jpg files and re-scanned the series to regenerate these files.

My current installed version is NzbDrone Ver. 2.0.0.2064, Ubuntu 14.04 server.

I’m posting this to the help section in case I have permissions issues, or if it’s a misconfiguration on my end, if not, I’ll feature request that file renaming extend to any associated metadata too.

As long as sonarr (drone) has scanned in the metadata files (and metadata is enabled) it will rename them during a rename. If there were permissions issues your logs will show that, so what do the logs show?

The season folders changed as well?

Without logs (debug is better), we can only guess at possible problems.

Thanks Marcus. I tried to replicate the same rename behavior this morning with another tv show, and sure enough all the metadata was renamed with the video files. Perhaps I was too trigger happy yesterday in reporting this. It even moved files from the root of the show folder to a season subfolder without issue.

Sounds like it was just issues with old metadata already on my side and was a once off.

Many thanks.
