Refresh Series Process- shifting the time it runs

Description of issue:

Hi All,

When the “refresh series” process runs and scans the hard drives, a downside to this for my setup is that I get stuttering on the video that is currently streaming.

Specifically I think this is happening because previous to the scan, 5 of the 6 hdds are spundown. When the task runs, the other 5 drives spin up which temporarily upsets the drive pool. So for the next 30 seconds or so I will get random stuttering. On the attached log, this line coincides with the start of the stuttering:

16-10-27 21:56:21.5|Info|RefreshSeriesService|Updating Info for

I understand the interval for this task to run is fixed at 12hrs. But is is possible to change the times it runs? Would be great if I get tell it to run at 3pm and 3am for example as the server runs 24/7. Running at the time in the above log snippet will consistently be the time I’m streaming files.

The alternative would be to not have the drives spin down but that leads to a significant heat build up in the case…

Thanks in advance for the help!

Cheers,
Lindsay

No you can’t control the time of day when it does, it’s a rolling 12 hours, the next run is 12 hours after it finishes. Run times are staggered throughout the day to avoid high load on 3rd party services as a significant percentage of users connecting to the services at one time would cause issues.

Hi Markus,

Understood- thanks for the reply
