Refresh episode information on disk issue with manually replaced files

I have recently replaced some episodes of The Avengers which I have in 1080p BluRay quality with a better version of the file in the same quality.

The original file was about 4 Gb in size and the new one is 9 Gb.

To do this I simply overwrote the file in Windows explorer.

All works fine except that in Sonarr if I look at the episode details it still shows the file size as 4 Gb.

I’ve done “Update series info and scan disk” but it has still shows 4 Gb and not 9Gb.

I presume what I should have done was to get Sonarr to do the copy.

This would seem to imply that the scan disk does not re-examine the video information relating to what it is looking at.

Is there any way to get Sonarr to repopulate this information?

Updating the series and scanning the disk will refresh the information in Sonarr, but will only pick up the new episode sizes if they have different file names (Sonarr doesn’t reprocess files it already knows about). The easiest would be to remove them from Sonarr’s view, refresh/rescan then put them back and refresh/rescan.

I did what you suggested and it worked fine.
