One problem Drone has is it randomly downloads full seasons of shows I have no intention of ever downloading, or getting much larger version of whole series that I already have even though I have it set to not download propers. I have seen it go from my full “DVD rip” quality of a series to me waking up and noticing SAB is still going chugging away and 25GB later it has a full series of 720p or 1080p version of the shows I never wanted to update.
The last one happened a few days ago, I had maybe one or two episodes of a show called “Episodes” and I noticed it downloaded every single one even though I never wanted it to.
What is wrong and how can I make it so it only gets the most recent episode of a show I have in my list to avoid these full season pick ups again in the future. It seems to happen all the time.
I am attaching the only log I could find dealing with this but it doesn’t help me at all.
like @markus101 said you may need to either manually unmonitor stuff or change your cutoff settings it would appear that this is caused by you have lower quality files that the cutoff is currently set at so on the regular scan for new episodes it detects these same episodes but at a higher quality and seeing as your cutoff probably is set for it to say if there is this same episode but in a higher quality it will grab it to replace that lower quality with the newer higher one
Well here is the thing… I just wasted another 8.2 GB because NZBDrone downloaded it randomly deciding to download season 5 of “The Big Bang Theory” for no reason whatsoever.
I don’t want to have NZBDrone download half complete (or any) full seasons of shows I have already watched and don’t currently have on my server, but I want it to download NEW shows only. This is destroying my download cap and I can’t stop it.
For example, Big Bang Theory last night randomly downloaded 11 of the 24 episdoes of season 5 even though NO ACTIVITY has been done on that show and no one touched NZBdrone.
And why would it only download these RANDOM episodes and not all the rest of season 5 if it is downloading at all? I now have half of a season 5 and I don’t know if it will do the same for season 1-4 also.
And… I just noticed in my SAB history that two days before it started to download a bunch of season 4 for no reason, not all of the episodes just random ones even though all the others are completely missing.
And a huge thank you to all the developers and anyone working on this amazing project. I hope I can get my issue resolved and figure out what I am doing wrong.
@Murphy You need to unmonitor the series, seasons and episodes you don’t want drone to grab, a link with more information is in my first response. If you don’t unmonitor them drone WILL continue to grab them when they are reposted and your cutoff has not been met (like they were in this instance).
But I don’t want to have to have every single episode of every show that I watch. 90% of the shows I have already watched the first 5 season on Netflix and I don’t want seasons 1-5… just the new ones.
That is kind of ridiculous that if I use NZBDrone I am required to download every single episode of shows even though I watched them years ago and will never watch them again in the future.
And whats with it only downloading random episodes from the season and not the whole thing if that was the case? I am still missing the rest of season 2 and 5, will it eventually finish downloading those when it randomly decides?
If you see it got S02 one day and junk random episodes I never wanted, and then a few days later it got half of season 5. I still don’t have any of season 1, 3 or 4 on my server so is it going to decide to randomly download half of those seasons also?
And if so when and why?
Thank you again, love the program when it isn’t ripping through my download cap randomly. You are an amazing programmer, hope you can figure out how to only start downloading at new episodes and not get old junky ones from years back.
As Markus said you don’t have to get all the seasons if you don’t want to. All you need to do is un-monitior the seasons you don’t want to get (only takes a few seconds to do this).
The random ones that are coming through are because they are being randomly uploaded and because you have not got anything unmonitored (from the older seasons) this means drone is going to grab them.
Though the instruction are clear how to un-monitor seasons and series, I think Murphy is onto something here.
When I came over from sickbeard, I was not looking to have ALL past seasons downloaded since most I will never watch again or they are on Netflix/Amazon etc.
It would be nice to have at switch or batch that we can run to turn off all previous seasons to unmonitored one time. I have 100+ shows in my list and I just tried to go through this manually and it is not going to take seconds as it was suggested.
A Feature Request will be added in its appropriate place but to have a way to un-monitor all previous seasons would be great. I could then go in and manually change to monitor the few shows I actually want it to search for and collect.
I don’t really see the problem here. You add a show, and are surprised that drone tries to download all episodes, or upgrades episodes with better quality (as per your own defined rules) when they are (re)posted?
Use the “starting season” dropdown when you add a new show, problem solved
For already added series, there’s Season Pass: “Season Pass allows you to quickly change the monitored status of seasons for all your series in one place”.
I found it rather quick, you can just use a similar dropdown as when adding a show, expand the show to choose specific seasons, or the dedicated “latest season only” button. Not sure what your feature request would ask for, on top of this?
Better “import show from disk” settings would avoid this kind of thing happening. Although it stems from a misunderstanding about how nzbdrone works, it will also stem from not being able to easily or conveniently translate whats wanted or not wanted when importing large libraries.
