Processing downloads is driving me nuts!

I’ve been a sickbeard user for half a decade. It had many shortcomings, but it was always easy to tell why it couldn’t process a particular download. When I came across Sonarr about 6 months ago it seemed to address almost all of sickbeards shortcomings. The failed download handling is money!

One thing I can’t figure out though is what to do when I add a series (eg. Hunter X Hunter)… then I place a bunch of files in the drone factory folder named “Hunter X Hunter.XXX.mkv”, but the logs say the series name could not be found. I’m confused how i was able to add the series with that name but files using the same name can’t be matched.

Is there a trick to knowing what file names for a given series will be processed and matched to that series?

Thanks. Jim.

Whats an example file name, exactly?

Looks like there is a remake from 2011 and the original from 1999, if the files are Hunter X Hunter they would attempt to match the original, not the remake. Which one are you trying to sort files for?

If there isn’t a release group at the start of the file name and the absolute episode number is 101 or higher then it will fail to match because it will treat 101 as S01E01 (since it was handled first, before anime was supported).

Hi Markus. The series I had added was the original from 1999 and the files were named “Hunter X Hunter.XXX.mkv” where XXX was the sequential anime episode number. I confirmed the series was set as type anime (not standard or air-by-date) in sonarr and I AM running the develop branch. In the view series page it even shows the numbers like it does for other anime 1 (1) 2 (2) etc… The funny thing is, when I painstakingly renamed the files in a last ditch attempt to “Hunter X Hunter.sXXeXX.mkv” they imported.

Thanks for the response.

Its because there is an alternate name for the remake of Hunter X Hunter so it conflicts with the original: http://thexem.de/xem/show/1329 it’s not a common occurrence, but it stems from how the episodes are released by the subgroups.
