So we’ve been working on a windows installer that should make the initial setup experience of Drone easier. We would appreciate it if you guys could give it a try and let us know what you think.
#What the installer does:#
Installs Drone to c:\\ProgramData\zbDrone\\bin\\ this path should be accessible by all users, allowing automatic update to function even if not running as Admin.
Install Drone as a Service (optional)
Create Desktop and Start Menu short-cuts (running these short-cuts will open the Web UI if Drone is already running)
i don’t want to mess with my ND setup but i will run in a VM that is running Windows 8.1 and see if it works
UPDATE:
worked first time this will make it sooo much easier for noobs to ND to get it up and running i noticed it does a check if there exists a NzbDrone service in a quick cmd windows then close then performs the service install this is a good idea i did not have a service on this previously as it was a fresh VM so i ran it and installed then ran it again over existing install and it asks you to force close of nzbdrone.exe and then also runs a cmd windows to remove the service then re-adds it all-in-all it works well i have not noticed anything that would stop you from posting it on the front page of the website for people to download.
Can we get an option to change the folder it installs to? I really hate to have programs installed into the default directories, especially related to Usenet (Which is self contained on another drive).
