After the episode has downloaded it would be nice to be able to play the video from the calendar interface

Absolutely not happening, there are entire products, Plex, Kodi, Jellyfin, Emby, etc built on playing video and it’s a massive undertaking.

Could it not be just when you click on the show(previous download) it automatically opens up in VLC player?

I agree with Markus lets not turn Sonarr into a Swiss Army Knife. Lets keep Sonarr focused on what it already does well.

Edit: just to clarify, I’m not advocating for adding it, far from it. As said, there’s a ton of applications for this.

You may be able to have a browser extension that adds that functionality, but it’s not something we’re going to add.
