Override quality detection for local files

Hi everyone,
I have a slight problem with Sonarr, as it incorrectly detects my .m4v files as SDTV, regardless of their actual quality.

I have it download HD versions of my shows, gradually upgrading them all the way up to 1080p WEB-DL. Then, every once in a while, I remux the .mkv to .m4v, in order to make them more iOS-friendly. However, .m4v files get tagged as SDTV, so Sonarr thinks it needs to get a better one, and redownloads the mkv version of my m4v, wasting bandwidth and time.

Is there any way to avoid this? I have looked through the forums and I could only find old threads.

Thanks,
Luca

There is no way to change m4v to be detected at a better quality, but you can change the quality from the series details page at the series, season or episode level.

Include the quality in the filename. Sonarr will fall back to guessing based on extensions if it can’t find it in the filename. Correct me if I’m wrong, devs.
