Optionally disable notifications for upgraded episode files

I understand what this means, and I am aware that there is a switch to set on/off. However, does this mean that when I receive an email or xbmc notification it will say that the file was updated to a better quality?

I had a file updated to a better quality but I only received the standard notification.

No, it means you can disable notifications from being sent at all.

Right now the notification text is common for all notifications, which is limiting, there is a request on Trello already to allow customizing: https://trello.com/c/JEFuCAVp/490-templates-for-notifications-connections
