Only Download Pilot episode

A lot of new shows starting around this time of year. Is it possible to create a new Monitor status that only downloads the first pilot episode instead of all available episodes.

Now you have to manually change the status to Not Monitored after the pilot is downloaded, and you want to watch it first before other episodes are downloaded.

Example:
I add a new show that is announced, give it the monitor status “Pilot Only”. It downloads only the first episode. After I watch it, and I want to see the rest of the season, I change the monitor status to Missing.

This way sonarr doesn’t download any unnecessary episodes.

Not a bad idea, but probably a bit tricky coz new episodes get flagged as monitored.

Example: If the show starts out with the Pilot and 3 episodes in the listing.
We can make it monitor the first and not the rest when you add the show, easy.
But then episode 5 gets added to tvdb, and Sonarr add’s it to the list as monitored by default.

@markus101 Idea’s?

I can see how some could use it but really, it doesn’t seem that useful. I mean, this can already be accomplished by setting it to unmonitored and then set to monitor the first episode. It’s really just a minor convenience for a few. Besides, why not just set it to monitor like always anyway? You’ll either end up removing the show, in which case it doesn’t matter how many it downloaded, or have to go back and set it to monitored anyway.

New episodes added later take the monitored state from the season, so the season could be unmonitored and only the first episode monitored. It feels a bit weird though and wouldn’t work if the season needs to be monitored for the episode to be monitored ever.

Unmonitor the season and monitor only the pilot is a good workaround. Only now I can’t see if there are more episodes available.
I see this

Instead of this. When I unmonitor the serie.

I think there are a lot of people with limited storage who would love a easy for just downloading pilots instead of the whole season automatic.

The saying “You can’t have your cake and eat it too” applies, you can’t have it unmonitored and have it treated as missing (unmonitored means it’s not treated as missing).

The fact that there is only one episode there should give an indication of the state and you can monitor the remainder of the season if you want to continue watching it, but there won’t be a solution to unmonitor them and see the list of total episodes in the progress bar.
