I’m sold on NZBDrone and have pretty much switched everything from Sickbeard over now, but in trying to get my friends to switch I keep hearing ‘I’ve put too much time into setting up Sickbeard to be bothered’.
Which I can understand - there’s nothing fundamentally wrong with Sickbeard, so it’s easier to stay with what you know/already have setup.
Just thought it might be a good idea if you had (perhaps) a one click option to import your Sickbeard DB into NZBDrone which automatically adds your shows, their location etc., to avoid having to do it manually?
Not an issue for me personally as I’ve invested the time to make the switch, but it would certainly help others make the switch in my experience!
This has come up a few times. but at this time this isn’t something we want to tackle, since each configuration is different it would become a pretty big undertaking.
We’re more than happy to help support someone if they want to write an external script to do this, but at this time I don’t see it being part of the core.
Takes like what? 5-10 minutes to install and setup NZBDrone? Add one more minute per location if you have your series spead out over several folders?
I kind of fail to see how it can be such a big problem. If people are too lazy for that, then they are too lazy to make the switch at all, no matter how easy and quick it is.
You should tell them it is worth it… I am still on SickBeard simply because i am so freaking ANAL that i am going through every show one by one making sure everything is perfect before i switch to NzbDrone.
I have 997 TV Shows with 45000+ Episodes so it is pretty tedious but i have found so many misnamed/misnumbered episodes, missing episodes, and snatched episodes that were never downloaded that i know i am doing the right thing.
I have setup NzbDrone for friends and seriously it is so painless… Especially if you are smart about your quality profiles, you may only need to set 1 up!
my biggest problem to make the switch would be the fact my collection of stuff is various formats ie dvd rips tv rips etc and this isn’t reflected in the file names, so if I simply add the folders all that information is lost and would have to download loads of things again, help please
Rename the files with the quality in SB, import into Sonarr and then rename them back without the quality if you wish.
sorry for slow reply wasn’t ignoring you, that sounds a simple enough way of doing it, I take it before doing anything sonarr would need to be set up to interpret the file name ie SeriesName - s01e01 - Episodename - Quality.ext into the correct quality group in sonarr
I don’t exactly follow what you mean by wueality group.
The quality profile assigned to the series won’t matter, that’s only for grabbing episodes. As long as the file name says its Bluray 720p, Sonarr will import it as such.
