Older Series are being snatched instead of newer remakes

I’ve noticed now several times nzbdrone will snatch tv show that is older that the one added. I know the search cannot be perfect but the nzb’s in question have the year in the title.

Latest examples:

“Hawaii Five-0 1968 S02E01 A Thousand Pardons Youre Dead DVDRip XviD-DIMENSION”
“The Killing 2007 S02E04 DVDRip XviD-INGOT” (instead of the us version)

The worst thing is that it will keep retrying and you have to manually delete it before it downloads.

srrdb or other release based implementation would solve this but for now maybe there could be a simple check to make sure if there is a year in the title it is not more than a year off from the show being searched for.

Your indexer is attaching the wrong tvrage ID to the releases. Drone falls back to the tvrage ID if the title match doesn’t succeed, since your indexer is attaching the tvrage ID of the remake drone grabs it, the reason for handling it this way is when a series has a scene name that differs from the tvdb name, drone will still be able to grab it automatically.

I looked into it more and it seems that the indexer for some reason actually has a nzb with 1968 title in it but there is no such release at all. Looks like someone messing around with fake names, very confusing.

The killing 2007 releases seems to have vanished form manual search so maybe they were removed from the indexer(s)?

Thanks for clearing this up!

Yes, sounds like they were removed from the indexer, thats a bit odd, but if they were fakes or mis-categorized then they would get fixed up.

The 1968 actually turned out to be real I just couldn’t find any reference to that particular release. The metadata was also fixed up with 2010 version. Killing was valid release too, not sure why it disappear from manual search results. I any case it was the wrong tvrage ID at least for hawaii five-0.

Manual search uses the tvrage id to search (more accurate than the title, except when things are assigned the wrong ID), so that would explain why the manual search no longer shows them (though a search on the site should show them).
