I really like the new layout of version 2, however most of the time I use the web interface is over a VPN through an RDP session on a remote PC and the pages load extremely slow now. Is there a way to disable all of the fanart if we so wish?
why do you access it in that way in the first place? Security reasons? If its not security, i would just open the port to Drone to the outside and connect directly. Since it can be password protected there is a small layer of security.
That looks like the same problem I am having but I have it at home (Mine is just on my win 7 server) and I use my laptop to access it, I tried first to swap out all my wireless adapters but that made no good now they are all wired through a hub but it is still slow to display the backgrounds.
If you use chrome you will be good to go as it caches the back ground so only has to load once then it will be instant every time. However if you use Firefox it loads it every time as it appears its not caching them.
There is a card in Trello looking at the caching in Firefox so it will get looked at
@shedrock Is that Firefox? I am not seeing anywhere near 1 minute load times, even though I’m using Firefox, but there is a caching issue with Firefox that will be resolved.
Would you be implementing a switch in settings to turn fanart on/off? Also, is the fanart quality at 100%? if so, maybe the quality could be around 75% so that it would loader faster. Just a suggestion.
Update: I see what’s happening in my case. If I am using NzbDrone on the PC it is installed on, the fanart is almost instant. The problem is that I access NzbDrone from all my other PC’s and the load time is much slower. Is there anyway around this besides the suggestion I made about turning fanart on/off?
@shedrock if you haven’t followed the post I made in pre-release today then you’re not on develop. I see you’re part of the group, so take a look.
22 seconds to load… thats insanely slow, even from my laptop (over WIFI) my fan art has always loaded within a second or two (in FF), but this should fix it for everyone.
First time since the change? But again 34 seconds is well past what it should take to download a 500k file…
Just as a test I went to that show for the first time ever from my phone, it took less than 5 seconds to download everything including the fanart (787kb).
What are using to measure the loading time of the fanart?
Lol…A stopwatch. You guys are aware as stated in a few posts back that this slow load time is based on me accessing NzbDrone via other PC’s in my house right? I do expect it to be slow, but didn’t think it would take so long though.
Anyway, as I mentioned also, if I load it from the actual PC that drone is configured on, it loads (some of the fan-art) almost instantly.
Yes, we’re aware. But that shouldn’t matter, unless you connect to your server over dialup… The change made affects subsequent loading because it should properly cache the fanart in Firefox. Also, how long does Firefox dev tools say it takes to download the fanart file? You can open it with ctrl + alt + K and go to the network tab and then reload the page. There should be a call that contains fanart.jpg in it.
