Newbie trying to configure transmission as download client

Just upgraded from nzbdrone to sonarr. I had been manually using transmission to DL torrents into the drone factory, where nzbdrone would process them. Worked well.

Now with the upgrade, I see that sonarr supports transmission as a download client.

I run Fedora 21 64 bit. I have installed sonarr per the instructions, and installed transmission-daemon as well.

I have configured the kickass torrent indexer, and that seems to test fine–no errors.

When I go to configure the kickass torrent download client, I choose Transmission, enter “kickassTorrents” as the Name, kickass.so as the Host, keep 9091 as the port. I enter “transmission” as the username, and my user password that I have entered in the settings.json file for the transmission daemon.

When I go to test, I get a Response timeout error.

It’s entirely possible I missed some setting in the settings.json file. Can anyone help?

Have you already setup SABnzbd or NzbGet? Setting up Transmission is very similar.

The settings you enter into Transmission settings in Sonarr are the ones to connect to your Transmission client (the one you have running on your computer).

you dont enter any kickass info into the download client setup for transmission

the name is “transmission” and the host is the IP of the machine transmission is installed on, if its the same machine as sonnarr can use localhost

Thanks! I’ve made a little progress. Now I’m running into the following:

Unknown exception: Remote site redirected to http://localhost:9091/transmission/rpc/web/

Again, I’m guessing something int he settings.json file, but I can’t find it

Can you please tell me all the settings required for a (pretty much) default-type setup?

I have a Kickass Torrents indexer setup, and I have Sonarr connected to my Plex server.

I just need to figure out this error I keep getting–it will not save the setup as long as this error happens:

Unknown exception: Remote site redirected to http://localhost:9091/transmission/rpc/web/
