Newbie question: what is the the difference between "monitor" and "automatic search"?

I noticed that to the left of each episode, there is a little bookmark that I can click to “monitor” an episode. What does this actually do? I think if I wanted an episode, I should just click the magnify glass (automatic search) and get it then.

Search is one time, monitors continiously checks if it is available on one of the rss feeds.

Thanks. What would be the advantage of using monitor? I guess if the episode wasn’t available via automatic and you set it so that it continues to check later?

Monitors main purpose is future episodes. It does not require any user interaction.

When adding a new series you can select what you want monitored.

If a series is added, and new episodes become available on thetvdb, it will automatically be monitored.
