New to Sonarr with a couple of questions

I have been using SickBeard, CouchPotato and SABnzbd+ for a couple of years with no problems to speak of. Lately it seems as though SickBeard is dying on the vine, and SickRage isn’t much better. So I decided to try Sonarr. So far so good. I have Sonarr working on my Ubuntu 15.04 Linux machine, but I have a couple of questions and/or suggestions.

  1. When viewing the Calendar from my pc, is there a way to eliminate the “Upcoming” column down the left side? It isn’t there when using Dolphin or Chromium on my Android. Another note, on Android the option for a monthly view isn’t there either, but personally I don’t really care about that.

  2. Browser doesn’t open on Sonarr start. I have read that this is because of an issue with Mono so I don’t expect an answer for this one, but I think it still needs to be addressed.

  3. System>Shutdown doesn’t. When I click on it, I get a message saying Sonarr will shutdown shortly, but it never seems to. I can use the System Monitor and see the Mono task is still there after several minutes. Is this the same issue as Sonarr not opening the browser on start??

  4. When does Sonarr update all of the TV scheduling and episode information?

That is all for now. Thanks in advance.

  1. Its shown if the screen size is big enough, there is no way to turn it off. Monthly looks very bad on mobile, so its not available.

  2. Sonarr has no (easy) way of knowing if it was started with a GUI interface available, so it doesn’t try, something we’ll look at in the future, but not a priority for us.

  3. Depends on how Sonarr is run, using Upstart or systemd will restart Sonarr when it sees it stopped, because it doesn’t differentiate between it crashing and being shutdown normally.

  4. Every 12 hours (you can when it will run next System: Tasks page, Refresh Series task)

Thank you for the quick response. I have only been using Sonarr for a couple of days but so far, so good. At first I was a little indifferent to the interface. Most of that was probably just because I had been using SickBeard for so long. But after playing around some it is growing on me. I am really liking the calendar view with the exception of the “Upcoming” column.

  1. I zoomed in the calendar view to see how far I would have to go before the Upcoming part was no longer there. That turned out to be a long way. Then went back to the Series view and a lot of information was not displayed because I had zoomed in so far. There is no happy medium so maybe I’ll dolly on over to feature requests. The information on the two columns, Upcoming and the calendar, are pretty much redundant. The upcoming column has the episode number which seems like it could be transferred to the calendar easy enough, and the episode name which I don’t give a hoot or holler about, but might be transferable to the calendar as well.

  2. yeah, that’s what I had read in another thread.

  3. Wouldn’t you know it. I did a shutdown of Sonarr to see if the process number changed indicating a restart. THIS time it ended and stayed ended. First time in about 6 tries.

  4. 12 hours, huh? Kool.

Thanks, and keep up the excellent work,

Wayne
