New NAS - System Requirements

You can always try it for free, community support is awesome. With the integration of dockers it been a blast and I use both sonarr and sick rage. Sonarr does most of my heavy lifting.

I don´t have sufficient knowledge about unRAID. Excuse my ignorance, but can it run on any NAS? Any suggestions? I wouldn´t mind getting by with something cheaper than a DS716+ … .

It’s an operation system so you can use your own hardware to create a NAS. Freenas or XPEnology (synology os) are other options.

Thanks. Finally had a chance to to read about it fully on Lime Tech. Definitely something to consider.

Thanks. Finally got chance to read up on it. Quite intrigued.

I have been using a QNAP TS-452 for about 6 months now, I run CouchPotato, SABnzbd, Transmission and Sonarr without any problems. I haven’t done any testing but the QNAP works great for these and Plex HD streaming.

My intention was to place an order for a DS716+ yesterday evening, but dang! I just can´t get stop those QNAPs, with all their bells, whistles and upgradeable RAM from lurking in the back of my mind. So here goes another week of indecision. Thanks for sharing your experience, though

You can upgrade the RAM on a syno as well, you don’t even need to buy “their” memory modules either. Just buy a SODIMM chip that matches the specs.

YMMV, AFAIK, etc

I did this on a DS1813+ with no issues.

Thanks. I guess that settles it for me. Only hitch may be voiding the warranty.

Don’t know if you already made a decision, but a brand you didn’t mention is Thecus. I just saw an announcement for the Thecus N2810, which may provide a little bit cheaper solution for an Intel based NAS.

I tried the demo Thecus 7.0 demo, didn’t see a package for mono / sonarr / docker in the app store, but that doesn’t mean there not out there in different package sources. The Thecus forum does show mono and sonarr threads.

Might be worth a look.

All bridges are burned! Received my 716+ today, but still awaiting my WD Red drives. Frustrating… . The Thecus specs make it look like an attractive and cheaper option. Thanks for the heads up. This time next year I will probably wish I had bought a 4 bay NAS!
