Need Emby API key?

I’m testing out Emby (again) and was trying to set sonarr up to push to it.

But sonarr wants an api key, and I can’t find any documentation on that anywhere.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

There used to be a place in the server configuration under “Security” that let you generate keys. After the last update it looks like that’s gone.

If you look at the bottom of the main Manage Server page there’s a link in the footer that says “API”. That opens up Swagger which for me crashes Chrome. There is an API key in the URL you should be able to copy and that might work.

I’d ask over on the Emby forums, they might have a better idea of where the keys went.

Also, don’t let Sonarr generate Emby metadata. It overwrites all of the nfo files and it will reset the watched status for your shows in Emby.

That worked! I’ve known for a long time I’m blind until someone tells me where it is.

BTW, the api link did not crash my chrome.

Thank you for the add’l info!

I searched the emby forums and all I got was a ‘it’s gone, maybe it’ll back later’ post.

You don’t need anything setup in Sonarr for Emby to work with it.

Just make sure you have the category set up correctly in your download tool and Sonarr will move your files to the correct place and then Emby will find them and fetch the metadata.

As karlshea said, don’t use the Sonarr metadata option for Emby (MediaBrowser) as it’s not needed.

To be honest, it could probably do with being removed from Sonarr.

The Emby integration is useful even with metadata turned off.

I have media saved on a NAS (which neither Sonarr nor Emby are running on) so I can’t use the automatic filesystem monitoring in Emby. With Emby integration enabled, Sonarr lets Emby know there’s a new file to add and I don’t have to wait possibly up to a day for Emby to rescan the library directories.
