I had a look here and on Trello, sorry if I somehow missed it…
I guess this is kind of a big ask, even though it sounds easy on the surface, since Drone was not built to have more than one username/pass…
Use-case: have a secondary read-only user/pass that I can share with friends and family, without having to give them the keys to the kingdom.
I’m not really interested in having multiple users that… well… use drone (adding/removing/changing shows & settings). I guess some people would be interested in that.
I just thought it would be nice if you could show off your collection to others in the glorious drone eyecandy, with filtering, searching, sorting, but still keep the settings etc secure.
For what it’s worth: I’d like this too. It’s in no way a very important feature (or at least not to me, I can’t speak for @Thirrian) but there has been many a discussion with a wide array of friends that starts out with “do you watch [insert show]?” I don’t know about @Thirrian but for me a single admin account and a single guest account would suffice. Guests should not be able to see “settings” and “system” in the menu bar, none of the tools on top of the listing (add series, season pass, etc should all not be there) or in the listing itself (update/edit should not be shown), the tools at the top right of the series details page should be gone and clicking an episode there (or in the calendar) should only show information, not allow the user to edit/delete any.
Multi user support would require a number of considerable changes (take @NMe’s must haves as an example) to accomplish and while I see some merit to it, its not something we’re going to consider at this time.
Looks neat. I’d still prefer it if one day Drone would support this because of the awesome interface and the very quick support you’re giving on what is a free piece of software, but I guess I could give the other software a whirl. Would probably wait for a Synology package though, I’m lazy like that.
