I noticed, this morning, that sonarr has decided to download twent-something seasons of a show. I have been using sonarr for 1 week. I am coming from sickrage/sickbeard. I added my shows and, I thought, had set stuff to only download new shows. I then thought to check monitored status of my shows. All seasons were marked black for all shows! Then I started to deal with this on a show by show basis. I noticed a strange. If I changed the icon to the left of the show name (toggle) to all black the program set all seasons to a semi-grey and disallowed any changes to those seasons. On the other hand, if I change the icon to all white then the icons of the seasons turned to all black and could be adjusted to all white. This confuses me (sorry). I have searched for documentation on this and failed.
What I really need to understand is what I am seeing. What I want to do is to change ALL my shows to download only new shows. I figure, if I want to download any back seasons I can go into the show and set the monitor thing, for that season, to all black although I have yet to figure out how to change all seasons to all white instead of the existing choices of black or the semi-black which forbids any adjustment.
Thank you…
After I wrote the above I found a posting that pointed me to the season pass thing. I changed the icon to the left of the name to all white which cleverly set everything, but the last season, to all white (unmonitored?) which was my wish. I still don’t really understand it all but, I think, I am where I want to be.
After I did the change I noticed that shows that have yet to be found changed their color from red to grey. I am not sure what this means. I tried to find a list of colors, and their meanings but failed. Hopefully, however, the changed grey color means that the program will continue to search for the episodes until it can find and download them (the greyed failures will continue to be monitored until fulfilled)?
I assume you mean on the calendar, there is a list at the bottom of the calendar explaining what each colour represents.
Grey means unmonitored, if you want something to be grabbed automatically by Sonarr it needs to be monitored. Red means Sonarr doesn’t have a file for that episode on disk (missing episode file), either because it hasn’t seen a release or any releases it did find failed. If you want past episodes to be found by Sonarr they need to be monitored and the quickest way to get them would be to search, otherwise Sonarr would need to see them on an RSS feed (as explained in the ((FAQ))).
So, I turned off universal monitoring which will get me only the new shows? When a show is not found I think what you are saying is that I must then start monitoring the shows manually?
Depends what option you chose when using Season Pass, if you used Future Sonarr would only keep future episodes monitored, past episodes would be ignored and not grabbed by Sonarr.
If you completely unmonitored a series that you want episodes for you need to monitor the series and episodes you want and unmonitor episodes you don’t want.
