Migrating From Sickbeard - Episode Detection

Hi!

Found about Sonarr last night.
Just went through setting it all up and liking it so far! I only have one problem.

I am finding that episodes of (older) series that I have in Sickbeard aren’t being detected by Sonarr despite them being completed and Sonarr adding the Series in it’s list, IE 0/122.

I think it is just a naming problem, I managed to mostly fix one by renaming it via Sickbeard and then refreshing in Sonarr. I couldn’t reproduce it on the next one though.
So bar me having something else completely wrong, I have been scouring the forums for a fix.

I guess my questions is - Is there a recommended naming format for series so Sonarr detects the episodes?

SxxEyy (S01E01) should do it, you’ll also want the quality in the file name.

What naming pattern are you using?

I am trying to use SxxExx - Ep Name (I can’t remember what is initially was, before I tried tweaking it) in Sickbeard.

Also just tried SxxExx.HD.TV which also didn’t work.

If the series is in odd quality and I have it set to just SD TV would it not detect the episodes?

At worst the quality would be unknown, but it will use the file extension in most cases.

Turn on debug logs and refresh/rescan the series, then it will log each file it processes (as long as they are video files that is).

Bingo!

It’s just the file name length! I can’t believe I didn’t find the logs earlier.

Thank you very much for you help. Hopefully all resolved now. (Going back to testing)
