This is not really 100% accurate, at least not with Gotham. When you add a new show with NZBdrone XBMC will automatically scan the show and use its built in scrappers for gathering metadata, but when you already have a show in XBMC which is properly tagged and folder with all its metadata, and you use NZBdrone to download new episodes of said show XBMC will not scan the new episodes since it does not include metadata.
Thats too bad that XBMC can’t add its own metadata for new episodes, probably intentional by them. Also Gotham is Beta, maybe it will change before release.
You choice is either delete all metadata and re-scan the show back into the XBMC library, which in my opinion is not really an option, manually use a metadata tool after new episodes are downloaded which defeats the purpose of an automation tool, or use NZBdrone just for new shows until metadata support is added but then you would have two apps that serve a similar purpose.
What advantage does having drone do it over XBMC?
By your definition adding metadata support to drone would be having two tools that do the same thing, since both XBMC and drone would be able to create metadata.

Honestly while i am greatly appreciative of the hard work that all OSS developers do the primary purpose of this app is downloading shows, for them to be used in XBMC if it cannot create metadata why try and make movie downloading a priority over simpler things like scrapping of metadata. Metadata was removed due to bugs, and was being worked on for re-introduction the last update on the progress was over six months ago, now once again while I am grateful to the devs, why try to run when you cant yet walk.
To be used in XBMC? No its media management to be used however the user pleases, XBMC is one of many options.
The movie development is not being done by the “core” developers, I was contacted by an interested contributor and it was moved to in progress, because it is in progress, it also has more than 2x the votes XBMC metadata does.
Honestly you don’t sound grateful, especially after the snide comment, we’re running along just fine. We’ll get to XBMC metadata when we get to it, we do want to add it, but there is only so much time we have to work on this. Metadata was not included in v2 because it was poorly done in v1, when we do it we want to do it right.
