I really like the way, v2 looks, but there are some minor issues that make using it really a PITA, compared to the old version.
The “Toggle monitored” tooltip bubble thingy.
I understand that new users have to be introduced to the new position and look of the button to toggle the monitor status, but in my opinion, showing it once or twice, until the user acknowledges it, would have been enough. It makes everything clunky now and worst of all, sometimes it doesn’t go away. See these screenshots: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/560/lrda.png/
It even stays there, when I get back to the Series overview, great, now I can’t click certain shows: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/19dl.png/
The persistence of items on screen also causes another issue:
The scrolling
I am glad that the “Back to the top” button was introduced. When I click a show, the frame will remain at the exact same scrolling position. It’s tough to describe. Let’s say, you scroll down to a show that starts with the letter “Z” and open it, then the show overview is also scrolled down incredibly far, although that show might only have 1 season and you see nothing but the backdrop. Why can’t every page start at the top like it used to?
Btw. Nzbdrone is running on Windows Server 2008 R2 (HP N40L), Client Windows 7 x64 on latest Chrome.
The current status
I really liked the black status bar in the lower right in the old version. I always knew, that something was going on, and my requests were queued. Now, if I click on something like Update Library, the icon on the button starts spinning, but if I navigate away from the site, I have no indicator, coming back to the overview, it will not spin anymore, even if the update is still going on. Yesterday, on my first day of using it, when I first had to set up the data base, I never knew, if it was working as many shows either wouldn’t have all tvdb information or show no files and I constantly found myself thinking “This is it? What’s wrong now?” just because it wouldn’t give me an indication of whether it was still busy or already finished.
The custom start date
Is the custom start date gone? I couldn’t find it. I added all my existing shows and now have to go through all of the daily shows and extremely long running shows and set older seasons and older episodes of the current season to ignore, which, with the toggle issue in #1 is not an easy task. Also, there used to be a header band to jump to specific seasons or ignore multiple seasons easily. Is that gone as well?
And a few questions:
Where can I find the logs from the webif?
Where are the options to shutdown or restart?
Where can I look for updates (used to be able to click the version number from anywhere or look in system menu, which is gone)?
Nice points, especially the custom start date. There needs to be an option to mark past seasons not to be searched quickly.
I suggested that in the missing view if Drone showed seasons rather than episodes and each season had a checkbox and you can mark all seasons at once it might speed thing sup.
Here’s another screenshot to show the issues #1 and #2 perfectly: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/94/pyyx.png/
I scrolled down to the show Go On, which only has one season. I clicked it and that’s what I saw. The toggle tooltips from a previous show were still visible and it started off so far scrolled down, that nzbd’s version number is on the top of the screen. Also note the position of the scrollbar on the right hand side. It is a one season show and although I am already scrolled past the entire season by default, I could still scroll down for ages, just because a previous screen was taller.
I am seeing the same persistent tooltips like MirandaU but not the scrolling issue, at least I can’t recreate it. I’m using Firefox 22.
By the way - I’ve seen it mentioned the logs aren’t in the UI yet, but you can get to them by adding /logs to the end of your drone URL - ie http://192.168.0.12:8989/logs
Thanks, having the logs is important for me. Since v2 gives you so little feedback, I feel I have to check in sometimes to see, whether it actually works.
Also, where is the search history gone? While going through my database I saw some missing episodes and then clicked on automatic search. Nothing happened. They did not end up in sab, in that case I always checked the search history to see, whether there were any matching releases or just waited and looked at the black statusbar which would show something like added to download queue or no matching quality found. Now, nothing happens, it can have a dozen reasons but doesn’t show anything.
Thats a bug - thought we had fixed that issue already
I saw this once, but I’m not sure how it happened, not supposed to happen
Those notifications worked well with v1’s single background thread, but since that is no longer the case it cannot be re-implemented as it was, we haven’t looked into this yet, but I’ll add a card on trakt to see what we can do in place of it/replicate it in v2.
Thank you.
After a few days of use, I got used to most of the changes. I’m still missing a few features though:
In “Missing”, where are the different options for backlog search, like recent, past week and so on? Is “Missing” now just an information tab?
How do I edit the quality of an existing episode or season? I had an episode the other day, being 480p sdtv. since sdtv releases are mostly 360p or 400p (depending on the codec), this was classified as hdtv, and since nzbdrone does not have a 480 tv profile, it got sorted in as hdtv-720p. Long story short, it would be awesome, if there was a quick and convenient way to edit that from the webif, like there used to be in v1.
I believe both requests are already on Trello, I’ll double check later and make sure they are. (missing search and editing episodes).
NzbDrone had always had the ability for you to make your own profiles, it just comes with some defaults out of the box. Just check out Settings -> Quality.
Awesome, thank you. I guess I should check trello more thoroughly before asking about things that have already been considered. Good to know you are not planning on scrapping these essential v1 features from v2 entirely. You guys are doing a great job!
