Is monitor only future episodes option working

Is the option to only monitor future episodes working?

I just started checking out Sonarr, after using SickBeard for a few years, and after adding several shows I noticed that all old seasons and episodes were marked as monitored even though I chose the future option when I added the shows.

Just tested it and its working for me using the latest develop build. It does take a bit to take effect because it needs to get all the episode information from our TVDB proxy to know which episodes are in the future.

So how long is a bit? After I add a series I can see the dates for all episodes pretty quickly. Are you saying that after a while Sonarr will set all the past episodes to unmonitored?

I’m using version 2.0.0.3004.

Depends how long it takes to get the data. took about 30-60 seconds for me.

I did it with a series that is currently on air, the unaired episodes were monitored, but everything before the date added was unmonitored.

That’s weird then… I wonder if it something that was fixed since the last master release… I guess I’ll have to try the develop build…

I get the same behavior with the develop build…

but I realized that it depends on what root folder I assign when I add the series… if I use one root folder, the one used by most series, past episodes are set unmonitored but if I use another root folder past episodes are set monitored… it is which folder I use rather than if future episodes are available that control it…

of course an easy workaround is to always use the same root folder when adding a new series and then changing it if necessary… but why does using different root folders affect how past episodes are set?

It doesn’t/wouldn’t, Sonarr doesn’t care which root folder you use, not even sure how we’d make it care.

Please hastebin some trace logs of adding a series so we can take a look.

You’re right, Sonarr does not care what root folder you use but it seems to care if that folder does not contain any subfolders…

15-4-27 20:32:33.3|Warn|DiskScanService|Series’ root folder (D:\videos\x) is empty.

when I get that warning past episodes are set to monitored
with a subfolder in the root folder I don’t get that warning and past episodes are set unmonitored

Yeah it does, prevents some weird bugs on mono and potentially on Windows if a drive was mounted in an odd way.

I think I know where the issue is and will fix it up. Thanks!
