Importing existing shows

Hi,

I am trying to make the migration from Sickbeard to Drone.

Is there a accept all button for TV Shows when importing an existing show?

Also, when importing existing shows does Drone read the already existing metadata (XBMC) to confirm the show? if not, can it?

Hope you are able to provide some assistance as i am really keen on making the move to NZBDrone.

Thanks,

Unfortunately the answer for both of those questions is no,

As for metadata, I wouldn’t worry too much about it, NzbDrone is really good at parsing file paths to figure out episode info.

let us know if you need more help.

No, there isn’t, you need to confirm the correct show was matched and select the quality for each and then add it.

No it doesn’t, while it would be possible I don’t think we will look at doing this.

This is unfortunate. A deal breaker. Manually adding 600+ TV shows each time i format my machine is too frustrating. Having metadata that is essentially useless and relying on folder names as the unique identifier is too risky. lack of a Accept all button. Damn! really wanted to use this program. Oh well.

Thanks guys,

@hjone72 Just backup the database when you format, myself and others have done this and just drop it back in place after the reinstall. So really you need to do it once. We have plans to support backup/restore directly within drone: https://trello.com/c/DVNl4Qgn/168-backup-export-settings

That metadata is created for use by XBMC, sure we could use it, but then what if you’re someone that uses metadata for another application, we should probably also support that, becomes a slippery slope to support.

The accept all button could be useful, saving you clicking add on every show, you’d still want to verify that each show was matched correctly and the quality is correct (unless the quality is the same for every show) and for that reason I feel it might do more harm than good.

Yes i agree having an accept all button could be harmful however if you were able to read similar metadata (TractTV ID or TVDB id) you wouldn’t have the problem. Realistically you could support a small number of different metadata formats and if the format that someone uses isnt supported its not that hard to convert/add new metadata that can be read. Metadata is easy to setup the entire point of setting up and creating metadata is so that i only have to go through the process of tagging each show once. Not once per program. Just a thought…

Thanks guys,

sorry if my following question comes across as self-righteous, I’m genuinely curious, that’s why I’m asking

Do you use sick-beard right now? I know some people need to resort to running multiple instances for sickbeard to manage large number of shows, I’m curios how does it handle 600+ shows?

You format your machine often enough for it to matter? That should only be something you do every few years (if that), and when you do it (or atleast when I do) I backup relevant things including firefox settings, program settings etc. and if I had 600 shows then that would be something that qualifies.

It shouldn’t matter how often I format my machine.
Using a folder name as a detection method is what we are talking about. Using a already present trak.TV id just seems more logical… Removes double work
