The background to my question is that yesterday I manually downloaded 30GBs of files. It was easier to download a season pack than the individual files because there were more seeds. I did not see this option in Sonarr so I did it manually. The files were for an existing show in Sonarr. They were downloaded to the watch folder and even though Sonarr needed the episodes it deleted the files instead because it had not grabbed them itself.
This was frustrating to say the least so I’m wondering where the setting is to tell Sonnarr to stop doing this and to just import the files from the watch folder even if it did not grab them itself? Thanks
Sonarr doesn’t need to grab the files itself to import them.
Not sure which watch folder you’re referring to, but at the moment neither Torrent Blackhole or Drone Factory will copy/hardlink files they will only move them, so seeding is not possible. Torrent Blackhole will have an option to move or copy/hardlink, but Drone Factory will never have such an option.
There is also Manual Import on the Wanted: Missing page, it will only move though, not copy/hardlink, at least for the time being.
Thanks for the reply Markus. I think you misunderstood me. When I saw “watch” folder I mean the Drone Factory folder that Sonarr checks for files. That folder is my destination folder for my torrent client Transmission. What I said was that instead of searching through Sonarr which would have downloaded each file individually I added the torrent myself of an entire season. This had a lot more seeds and peers so it would download faster. When it downloaded it went into the Drone Factory folder. Sonarr looked at the Drone Factory folder and saw the files. Instead of importing the files it said it did not download them itself so it was not going to use them (skipping). Then it deleted the files. So my 30GB download was gone.
Don’t use the Drone Factory folder, especially with Torrents. Let Sonarr’s much improved import method, Completed Download Handling (CDH) talk to the download client and import what it needs to.
CDH will copy or hardlink the files instead of moving them.
Said that where?
Sonarr will only delete files if something was successfully imported and there aren’t remaining video files in the folder.
