In recent months I have noticed a big increase in episodes having releases before their TVDB listed air-dates. Sonarr downloads these releases and so far every single time they turn out to be fake (almost always large files but which do not play).
Does anyone have any suggestions how to avoid this? Besides wasting Gigs worth of bandwidth every week the files end up lying around on my HD for quite a while as well cluttering my download list.
My first reaction was to request the simple fix of including a “Don’t download series before air-date” option to be added to Sonarr. But it seems that (at least in 2015) such a request was already denied. Out of curiosity does this refusal still stand? I’d like to point out that, at the time, the main argument against such an option was that sometimes episodes do get aired before their TVDB air-dates and having this option set would prevent Sonarr from taking advantage of this. Well over the last few months I stand at something like 30-40 fake pre-releases vs. 0 legitimate pre-releases. What stats are others seeing in this respect? (Especially those using public torrent trackers.)
Also if that is a concern for devs. I suggest having the setting off by default (and even hiding it in advance settings) so that the only way Sonarr could miss out on legit pre-releases is a user explicitly decides to turn the option on…
Baring such an option does anyone have any other solutions to avoid this behavior by Sonarr? adding search terms to avoid isnt a good solution either because almost always the fake torrents are dressed up to look like valid releases so if I were to add say “LOL” as a banned term I would then also be prevented from downloading a very large fraction of the valid releases…
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!
