20-10-10 23:01:29.2|Debug|DownloadDecisionMaker|Release rejected for the following reasons: [Permanent] Has same release name as a grabbed and imported release

Description of issue:
I have already downloaded a first release named: the.walking.dead.world.beyond.s01e02.repack.1080p.web.h264-cakes.mkv (score: 65)
A higher-scored release became available:
The Walking Dead World Beyond S01E02 1080p WEB-DL DDP 5.1 H.264-cakes (score: 69)

Even though the new release’s score is better: (69 vs 65), I’m unable to automatically grab the higher-scored release. Sonarr displays the following message in its logs: [Permanent] Has same release name as a grabbed and imported release

Does it mean that if the new file was released from anywhere but cakes, I’d have managed to grab it ? Why is that ? Isn’t it a bug to prioritize filtering based on title over prefered words scoring ?

Or am I missing something ?

Thank you!

Sonarr already grabbed that release (exact same release name), then imported it and based on the history, it’s the last thing it grabbed, despite the discrepancy in the the scoring it’s the same thing to Sonarr.

It’s a safety net, not a bug.

So if I understand correctly, Sonarr considers both
the.walking.dead.world.beyond.s01e02.repack.1080p.web.h264-cakes.mkv
&
The Walking Dead World Beyond S01E02 1080p WEB-DL DDP 5.1 H.264-cakes
to be the exact same release. Even though it’s not really the same release name? The first has REPACK & WEB it, the second has WEB-DL.

Is it possible to know how Sonarr decides/calculates the release name in this specific case please?
Does the size difference between the 2 files have any effect on Sonarr’s decision to consider it to be the same release name?

Thank you!

pretty sure (markus can confirm) repack is going to “score” higher (regardless of actual score) unless you disable repacks?

media management > file management
(show advanced options needs to be enabled to see it)

Yes, it’s already disabled by setting it to “Do not prefer”.

can you take a screen snippet of the episode history and paste it in here? just to see the original torrent name and the filename that was inside it, should show if the original was WEB or WEB-DL?

either that or WEB is the same as WEB-DL from sonarrs perspective?

I think it is still the same, even in v3. But I thought that additional words (like REPACK) or preferred words scores took precedence over it.

the repack got grabbed and imported yesterday (bottom two entries)

then it found and grabbed another one (third from bottom), presumably it had a higher score than the original repack. but i dont know why it didnt download (theres no import), was it cancelled by you?

it also matches this entry, ie sonarr had already grabbed something with the exact same name, which is what its erroring on.

i think if you deleted that entry from the list sonarr would have found that other one and processed it, as it would no longer be in the history (although im not sure if that history is kept elsewhere)

the amazon one came later, got grabbed, deleted the repack, and imported. did sonarr find that itself, or did you do it manually?

the error message makes sense from that history, but i dont know why that one in the middle didnt download. if it had then the repack wouldnt be in there confusing things

No I didn’t cancel it manually. I suspect it was grabbed (when the scoring was 0 vs 0) but cancelled by Sonarr, for some reason, when I was correcting the preferred words scoring.

I’ll try to test what you’re suggesting. I need to delete both the non imported entry from history The Walking Dead World Beyond S01E02 1080p WEB-DL DDP 5.1 H.264-cakes
and the higher scored release that got automatically imported today The.Walking.Dead.World.Beyond.S01E02.The.Blaze.of.Gory.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-NTb.mkv (I can’t do the latter, because I still need to seed the file for a few days)

That way I can reproduce the testing conditions of yesterday’s.

@markus, does sonarr rely on the last grabbed or the last imported release to make a decision?

I’ll keep you posted, thanks!

Sonarr doesn’t cancel downloads.

Both, in tis case it’s looking at the last grabbed event, but won’t get to that rejection unless it was also imported.
