Description of issue: So I have an intermittent problem with my server where HDDs are not being recognized and coming back later, etc. When this happens, I believe, Sonarr sees all these missing episodes and begins a massive search and redownloading. To prevent this, I am trying to not allow Sonarr to monitor past episodes. A few google searches have suggested something called “Season Pass” but I’ve been unable to find this within the Sonarr application.

Sonarr doesn’t do back log searches, this is covered in the ((FAQ)).

I have read that Sonarr does not back log searches, then what is initiating the searches for suddenly missing episodes? Plex?

Plex doesn’t do any searching unless you have a plugin doing it…

Debug logs would be your first step, or they are re-releases that came up on RSS feeds.

Well thank you for your help, fingers crossed Season Pass monitoring only Future will do the trick. Now to wait until my intermittent problem rears it’s head and see what happens.

Ignore Deleted Episodes in the settings may also help for unreliable disks.

I had that happen before. The answer is to remove the episodes from monitoring.
Also, The answer to your HD problem is two fold.

1. See if you can get a tool for your HD if it is SATA.
   Lengthen the wait for spinup.
2. If USB, Like Mine was. Replace the Cable and try a different port. Mine went away when I followed the suggestion to re-wipe the device drivers and reinstall the originals and creep update each one. I have 14 3.0 USB Drives and they have been running solid ever since.

Agreed, Would love a way to have the system tag for which indexes not to scrape for certain series . I know it is a leap and probably cannot be done.
What I would suggest is a way to change the Tasks so some will run at a certain time. A lot of time, since my DSL only is a 10/1, I have to make the system reset for a certain time each night or the searches drag the system down during the day.
