Future Linux Support

I am pretty sure this was discussed before on the old forum but was just curious because i am thinking of looking into setting up a Linux (Debian) home server when it gets rebuilt currently running WHS 2011 but interested in any linux alternatives that may appear soon i like WHS and it works well but looking at linux as more lightweight and safer alternative

Not to start a OS war… I’ll agree its lighter weight, but safer, depends, less viruses; yes. From a data recover perspective maybe not, I like being able to to pull a drive from my server and have it quickly loaded on my desktop (if required).

To answer your question, yes we’re working on Mono support, which would cover Linux and OS X, as long as they supported the features we need. We’ve been very careful in picking the components we’re relying on for the next version because we feel that Linux support is an important milestone we need to get to.

Kind of an old issue on YouTrack, which contains almost no relevant information now (since the next version is almost a complete rewrite), but for reference its here: http://track.nzbdrone.com/youtrack/issue/ND-60.
