The main diff between this and true indexers is that true indexers identify individual releases and then put the ID in the database. Whereas you fetch a title somewhere (without alts) and then search your db using that title.
That’s going to be fine for most series, but those with alternative titles won’t work properly.
On the other hand, spotweb delivers a list of name’s and nzb’s which never can be discovered through other indexers. That is because the nzb / filenames have no relation with the true name except via the spotnet index. In that sense spotweb in unique. It is not a pure usenet indexer, but an indexer with data maintained by people.
Not as unique as you might think, but that’s irrelevant to the current discussion.
