I’ve got an episode that spans the last episode of a season and the first episode of the next season but it’s only registering as the first half. I have my multi episode naming set to extend but in this case I manually re-named it to duplicate style (TNG 3x26 - 4x01), but it doesn’t seem to get picked up.
Sonarr doesn’t support episodes split over multiple seasons. It would be a significant change to support them, which we have no plans to do at this time.
So your tv-episode-tracking software will track two-part episodes but not if they’re a season cliffhanger? These situations clearly exist. It might be some work, but you should try to eventually support it. I have this same problem on some of my shows. (The red bars drive me crazy! :p)
In my experience there aren’t that many, I’m aware of one, TNG season 3/season 4.
Some is an understatement, its a significant amount of work and a massive design change.
We can’t support everything so we try to support things that make a bigger impact, features that a small subset of users would use or in this case a small subset of episodes would make use of add complexity and don’t always make sense to add.
I’m curious how many instances of this you have out of how many total episode files. It certainly possible to split those files into their separate parts, though thats not for everyone.
