It can be difficult remembering which episodes I have already viewed. Some media players do not provide a consistent method to mark viewed videos. It would be nice to be able to keep track of episodes I’ve already watched.
I propose adding a checkbox or similar form input to each episode in the calendar. The user would then have the ability to quickly check where they have left off.
I am not sure what you are using to watch and manage your media, but I am using Sonarr in conjunction with Plex Media Server and a Trak.tv account. I automatically marks things watch and un-watched. The Trak.tv account allows for tracking between systems.
We don’t have plans to implement watched status attacking within Sonarr, but we’re considering ways to sync with other applications/trakt to store that information.
Thanks for the responses and helpful suggestions. My current configuration is:
Linux Server:
Sonarr, CouchPotato, nzbget, transmission, PS3 Media Server
Network Router:
5TB NAS
Media Player:
Playstation 4 Media Player
All media gets downloaded, processed, on the linux server and is then pushed to NAS. PS3 Media Server transcodes video files for the Playstation 4 when required (which is more often than not).
I’ll take a look at what options I have using PS3 Media Server. Perhaps there’s a plugin for trak.tv. The PS4 media player has an option to manually add a tick next to episodes but it appears this state is not persistent and sometimes disappears.
I’ve had mixed results with other media servers as the native PS4 media player isn’t that great working with DLNA. PS3 Media Server just seems to work perfectly.
You should look into sidereel. They’re great when it comes to tracking shows. I’m not sure they have an api tho but if you’re able to implement something similar it would be awesome.
