Don't understand how files are renamed

Sonarr version (exact version): 3.0.3.701
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows): 6.8.0.105
OS: ubuntu 19.10
Debug logs:
Description of issue:

if one uses rarbg, they rename all the amzn releases posted there at the directory level, while leaving the actual filename alone.

I have renaming off, but sonarr still renames individual episode downloads to the directory name, instead of using the filename itself. i.e. tv.show.s01e01.amzn.web-dl.mkv becomes tv.show.s01e01.amzn.webrip[rarbg].mkv

am i doing something wrong?

Sonarr prefers the release/folder name, but instead of disabling renaming use {Original Filename} to use the filename.

is it possible to have different renaming rules for different sources of content?

i.e. rarbg, uses {Original Filename} but something else use folder name?

No it’s not.

is this something that would be considered a reasonable feature request or something that has been thought about and wont be done?

It’s not something we have plans to do.
