Does nzbdrone have settings for max filesize?

hey guys,

I’m setting up my new pc and suddenly got the idea that maybe I should switch from sickbeard. I’m pretty happy with SB but there is one issue that drives me nuts. There is no setting for max filesize. So lets say I have a full season at 720p and decide I want 1080p and I make that change in SB. Sometimes it will find huge files, like 6-8gb/ep when I would have preferred something more like 3gb. Since I have limited bandwidth and hard drive space, this feature is very important. Is this in nzbdrone or planned?

Hi @cardboardbox, sounds like a great time to do it. Let us know if you have any problems/questions.

Maximum size is an “advanced” feature, so make sure they’re visible (switch at the top of the settings pages), on the Quality Settings page:

The two sizes are for 30 and 60 minute shows, there is no configurable minimum.

looks good, I’ll download and try tmw.

I have one more question. I’m very satisfied with the way SB has initial and archive quality settings and I’d like to replicate that in nzbdrone. I’ve made my own quality called “On Air - Archive at 720” and inside I’ve included WebDL720 and 1080 and Bluray720 and the cutoff is Bluray720. So this should eventually end up at Bluray720 some time down the road. What I’m wondering is if nzbdrone first finds the WebDL720 and a day later finds the WebDL1080, will it download again? I want it to grab one or the other and then wait until it can find the bluray720.

Yes, it would download the WebDL 1080p because the cutoff has not been met. I understand what you’re looking for, but its not something that drone supports.

EDIT: Added an additional possible feature to this Trello card: https://trello.com/c/dmuIBWwH/224-customize-quality-order which would let you rank multiple qualities as the same, so the first one grabbed would be the one to keep (until a wanted upgrade is available).

thanks that would be a very useful feature.

I’m very tempted to go with drone because I really like the quality size limits, nice clean elegant solution there. But if I have to research which shows will have web-dl’s posted and out of those which will have 1080p web-dl’s, it becomes too time consuming. Of course, the next time SB decides to “upgrade” me to 8gb/ep bluray rips I’ll be back to banging my head on the wall.

Now that I think about it, if I select both 720 and 1080 web-dl’s in SB, it will grab whichever it finds first and will stop. So there is some leg work involved with SB because if I select only web-dl’s and there’s no web-dl’s posted I will get nothing, or if I pick 1080p web-dl and only the 720p is posted I’ll get nothing.

So the solution in drone for the time being would probably be to pick 720 web-dl and just live with it if I dont want to research if a particular show is being posted in 1080. And this isnt that much different than SB.

ok I just talked myself into continuing to try drone.

Are you wanting WEBDL 1080p because you want the show in 1080p or because they don’t release in 720p?

just trying to get the best quality in a reasonable file size. I think typically most shows are released in WEBDL 720p but not nearly as many are released in 1080p.
