Description of issue: I’ve been using Sonarr for a while now. Love it. But it never really does completed file handling correctly, to prepare files for Plex. Ordinarily, this isn’t a problem: most of the files are scanned by Plex anyway, and it matches properly. Where it doesn’t handle properly is moving files to their proper destinations, or changing filenames where needed.

I like to have things like late-night, contest and awards shows go into my “variety” destination, kids shows (disney, nickelodeon etc) into my “kids” destination, and everything else into my TV destination. But when files stagnate at 100%, Plex either scans everything at the TV default folder, which muddles things up, or can’t find matches because the file is prepended with crap like “www torrenting com” or “www scenetime com”.

I have seen others try and say they’ve successfully resolved the issue, but I can’t figure out how. It also looks like they’re using different download agents, like uTorrent or Deluge, or they’re using Usenet, which I don’t.

Things to note: Sonarr is running on my Windows machine (local IP is 192.168.1.3) and Transmission is running on my Lenovo NAS (mapped as Z drive on my Windows machine, and whose IP is 192.168.1.33). Thanks to Lenovo being awesome, I can’t upgrade Transmission to the latest version, because I can’t access sudo or admin access to the NAS (sarcasm, icymi).

Can you see anything I might be doing or getting wrong? I tried doing remote mapping, and I think I set it up right (just today) but I wasn’t sure if that’d work.

Since Sonarr and Transmission are on different machines you do need a remote path mapping.

Read the tooltips when setting it up and as long as Sonarr is redirected to the correct folder and has access then it should import everything.

So I have applied remote path mapping, and it’s still not working. I’m still not sure what I’m doing wrong. Would I be better off installing, idk, Deluge on my windows machine and just using it instead? I’ve never used Deluge, and I prefer a headless client, but if that’s what will work, I’ll do it (fwiw, I’ve tried using Hadouken but it was incredibly unpredictable and unreliable, so I reverted to Transmission).

Alright, exec decision made, installed deluge, added a new show to test, it downloaded, completed, and moved the file accordingly. Solved! Now to edit my historical library, though…
